My roaring twenties – Final stages

At some point, you're going to buy a house together. In our case (as some loyal readers know), we've done quite a bit of renovation, and that's not easy. "I told you it's demanding – and your relationship is demanding," is something we hear a lot now that we're in the final stages. There have also been times when setbacks caused friction. Anyone who's done major renovations knows how that goes. If I may offer a tip to fellow renovators: make sure you also check in with each other regularly. You're in this together – ideally. Even if you have a disagreement, talk about it and make up as soon as possible. It's you against the rest, but if you also turn against each other, it's only harder. So support each other, especially when you see the other person struggling.
We moved in November, even though it wasn't quite finished yet. This was after we had to postpone the move due to unforeseen setbacks. So, I planned a bit more generously than I did! Still, I had anticipated being busy. For example, I'd taken a break from writing for Uitstraling, but that was a bit too short. Fortunately, I could count on the editors' flexibility, and everything worked out perfectly. I know I'm always very positive and plan optimistically – that's why I'm known for arriving late rather than early. So, November suddenly became extra busy. We were moving in November, but I already had other tasks planned. I'm also busy crafting handmade gifts, and I still had some to make in November. So, I'm keeping busy, but it did get a bit busy. In retrospect, the fact that I only kept September and October empty in my schedule was rather optimistic. Fortunately, with a little help from those around me, it all went relatively smoothly. The community also offered tips beforehand, such as "Never skimp on an electrician" and "Make sure you anticipate setbacks and make time for quality time together." Sometimes you really do need to heed their advice. That's why I say to all the optimistic planners: if you're planning to renovate or move, learn from this and good luck!
