Valentine

Valentine's Day is almost here again, and these days I still enjoy it, but that wasn't always the case. Although I have to admit, that's mainly because I never got anything, only when I had a boyfriend who felt "obliged" to. I never had any secret admirers—believe it or not, I don't know why. Of course, I always secretly hoped for them. That's how I actually came up with the idea in high school to celebrate Valentine's Day not just for romantic love, but also with other people around you. My love for my friends and family is just as important, and there's no real day for that (except for Mother's and Father's Day, of course). So I would sometimes buy a bag of candy in the schoolyard, because they sold it there along with roses, etc. I'd happily share it with my friends, and that way, I made every Valentine's Day a little more special, whether I was single or in a relationship. So my tip to all singles: Make the most of it, because Valentine's Day can also be a day to express your love for friends, family, or (why not) for YOURSELF! All these kinds of love are worth celebrating, so you can also treat yourself to something delicious or fun this Valentine's Day.
But what are my plans for Valentine's Day this year? Honestly, my boyfriend isn't particularly fond of trinkets. That makes it more difficult, of course. Besides, Valentine's Day falls shortly after Carnival this year, a holiday I'll definitely be attending (as a true Brabander). Still, I think it's important to take the opportunity to show my loved one how much he means to me. So, like every year, I'll write a card. I'll probably also make or get something tasty to enjoy (together). Who knows, we might even do something fun together later, but we'll arrange that together. I usually do these kinds of small things, but don't be fooled; the little things can mean a lot to someone, as long as they come straight from the HEART <3. I also plan to give friends who need a little extra encouragement something like a heart keychain (you can buy one from me too). Good luck and don't forget to enjoy Valentine's Day (even if you don't have any secret admirers, because you can still be your own secret admirer) 😉
